Between Meals by A.J. Liebling
This book is one of my father's favorites. It's about a man's man who loves sport and women and food and drink and Paris. These are all thing my father loves, as well. I imagine that he and Liebling would have gotten along if they found themselves sitting next to one another at dinner on an ocean liner from New York to Southampton, eating and smoking and recounting boxing matches, then making plans to gad about the arrondissements once they arrived Paris, though never actually meeting up. Liebling is a tough cookie, and my father's a softer sort.
